Marula Gyro Flight School - Enjoy Flight

Marula Gyro Flight School (MGFS) offers a full package to aspiring pilots wanting to secure a pilot's licence. Because the Gyro plane is such a remarkable innovation in flying and has a very easy operational system, it makes sense to empower people by making available something not offered anywhere else in this fast growing section of the aviation landscape. MGFS is proud to be associated with the SYCAMORE GYRO PLANE, a truly South African product produced and serviced in this country with complete after sales service to clients. Feedback from market research was instrumental in the establishment of this flight school which indicated a huge demand for gyro training and MGFS has a vested interest in presenting the opportunity to everyone to learn to fly the Sycamore Gyro plane.

Training

The flight training will be carried out at MGFS in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. This ranch has access to traffic free air space which enables students to learn to fly in a relaxed and quiet environment free of air traffic. The flight training will comprise 25 flying hours minimum to secure the licence. We then offer a further operational training course of 20 hours at the same venue. This training has the objective to ensure that pilots can use all the wonderful flight capabilities of this unique aircraft as well as using the Gyro for the purposes it was intended to fulfil. The operational flying training will include air to ground work like patrolling fencing, doing anti-poaching patrols, identifying and counting specific species of game, mountain flying, navigation and route flying, aerial photography, short hovering, etc. This entails training basically to utilize this Gyro to its full potential and still fly safely.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be made available at the fully appointed Marula Lodge which is situated at the same venue as MGFS. It is the intention to offer the full package to all trainee pilots. The students arrive with all expectations and no knowledge and, after completion of the full course, leave with even more expectations, but now including the ability to fully operate this wonderful and remarkable aircraft.

Course Duration

The duration of the course for the licence is 5 weeks with an extra 3 weeks for completion of the operational training

Unique Training Opportunity

This is really a unique training opportunity in a fabulous Bushveld environment where the student is busy with operational aspects during the day and is able to enjoy the sounds of the bush in the evening while attending a traditional barbecue.
